RECOMMENDED TOOLS & MATERIALS

(not supplied)

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

This manual covers the installation and

maintenance of your new Crane Plumbing bath.
Read it through once before proceeding. After
installation the manual should be left with the
bath and consulted by the user.

Acrylic/FRP products have a high quality surface

finish. Carefully inspect unit upon arrival. Any
shipping damage or shortage should be recorded
and the carrier notified. Protective storage
should be provided for these fixtures. Avoid
exposing to excessive heat. Keep fixture in carton
until ready for final installation. When moving

shower or bath units with a handtruck they should be centred with the back to the rear;
avoid loading or flexing the wall panels.

Care must be taken to protect the surface during handling and installation. NEVER LIFT
ANY PRODUCT BY THE GRAB BAR OR WHIRLPOOL/THERAPEUTIC PIPING OR
COMPONENTS. If the unit is covered by a thin plastic film it should be removed after
final installation or prior to joining two surfaces that will be in permanent contact.

Consider the following when determining the tub location:

Will the floor be able to support the tub when filled?

An access panel should be provided for supply fittings, pump and blower (if

provided).

That the dimensions of the product match those in the plan.

A wall timer must be installed out of reach of a person in the tub

(whirlpool/therapeutic only).

INSTALLATION

1

Install the waste and overflow on the bath (supply fitting if applicable). To prevent
chipping, apply masking tape and first drill a pilot hole. Then proceed with proper sized
hole saw. Install supply lines and waste pipes in accordance with local plumbing laws.
The faucet (not included) is wall mounted above the bath at the drain end.

2

Attach horizontal supports to the walls of the recess and vertical supports to the end walls
as shown in fig. 1. Ensure that the supports are level and at the correct height for your
bath. For soaker versions only, proceed to step 4.

3

NOTE: All electrical wiring must be done by a licensed electrician in accordance with
applicable electrical codes. DO NOT GROUND MOTOR FRAME TO THE TUB,
FITTINGS OR PIPING. Circuit must be protected by a class "A" ground fault interrupter.

Turn off all power and attach an electrical cable from the pump, or blower to a 15 amp
circuit. For units with walltimers connect cable first to walltimer (which must be located
out of reach of any person using the tub). Allow sufficient cable under the tub to remove
and service pump or blower without disconnecting wires.

4

Set tub into recess. Rim should rest on supports and tub bottom must be well supported by
the floor. Shim if required. Drill holes through the flange in line with studs. Secure with
washers and no. 12 or 14 round head screws (see fig. 2). Improper installation will
damage the bathtub.

5

Connect supply lines and waste pipe to the tub fittings. For whirlpool and therapeutic
versions remove any debris from the tub. Fill tub at least one inch over highest jet. Run
the pump/blower and check for leaks. Any leaks other than pump unions must be repaired
by a qualified service person.

6

Finish walls and floor. Remove protective plastic film (if applicable) and caulk around
rim and apron.

CARE OF SURFACE AND CLEANING

To protect the glossy finish of the tub follow our cleaning

instructions. Do not use metal scrapers. wire brushes or other metal tools to remove foreign material from the
tub. Use a sharp softwood stick to scrape off plaster. Use turpentine or paint thinner to remove paint spots.
Never use an abrasive cleaner. For regular cleaning use a non-abrasive powdered detergent s uch as Spic and
Span. For stubborn stains use warm water and a liquid detergent such as Handy Andy, Mr. Clean or Lestoil.
Solvents such as turpentine or paint thinner may be used without harming the surface. Scouring pads of
nylon, saran or polyethylene containing no hard abrasives may be used. Restore dulled areas by rubbing with
an automotive type cleaning/rubbing compound such as Dupont No. 7 followed by an application of liquid
wax such as Johnson’s. Do not use acetone, lacquer thinner, nail polish remover, or other strong solvents on the
bath finish.
