values of ≥20% from baseline are considered clinically significant and cause for
concern and possible interventions (see Appendix B Clinical Studies ).

Note:
At start up, when selecting new patient or previous patient, the alarms for each channel become active
only after a sensor has been connected. This is to prevent alarm conditions on an inactive channel or
channels.

Note:
Separate sets of user configuration parameters are stored for two- and four-channel monitoring. Previous
settings for two-channel monitoring will resume when this configuration is selected, and vice versa.

Note:
A type-matic (repeat) function is active for navigation key menus that are repetitive (for example, Next). It
allows the operator to navigate faster through the options by pressing and holding the Menu key.

Baseline Set and Status

numbers will turn red if rSO

is above or below set alarm thresholds. Baseline status will turn red
indicating a baseline status desaturation ≥20% or ≤40 rSO

value (see Figure 6-1. ).
As soon as rSO

trend data begins to be gathered and patient condition is stable, an awake base-
line reading should be obtained (for example, for surgical patients, prior to induction). A baseline
