Adjusting the height of the Shoulder Harness

of each individual brace.
2) Press in the silver snap button on the upper rear lock brace and lift the
lock brace out of the housing.
3) Slip the shoulder harness loop off of the brace and pull the shoulder har-
ness out through the seat upholstery.
4) Reposition the shoulder harness to the desired height, and reinsert it
through the seat upholstery.
5) Slide the shoulder harness loop on to the upper rear lock brace and rein-
sert the lock brace into the housing. Repeat steps 1-5 for the opposite side.
7) Lock the both the upper and lower rear lock braces by pressing down on
each individual brace.
Adjusting the Pelvic Straps
1) Adjust the crotch strap by pressing down on the gray push button, and
pulling on the end of the strap
2) Adjust the pelvic belt straps by either pulling on the loop located at the
end of the strap (tighten), or pulling on the end of the strap closest to the
buckle (loosening).
If the wheelchair user elects not to use the five-point harness, a vehi-
cle-anchored lap and shoulder belt must be used.
As with the wheel-
chair-anchored lap belt, it is
very important to position the vehicle-anchored lap belt low over the pelvis so
that the angle of the lap belt is within the preferred zone of 45°to 75°to the
horizontal or the optional zone of 30°to 45°to the horizontal, as shown in
Fig. 11.
Be sure that the shoulder belt crosses the chest and the middle of
one shoulder and that belt restraints are not held away from the body by
wheelchair components or parts, such as armrests or wheelchair legs.
(See
Fig. 12)
Thread the lap belt under the frame tubes located directly under the
user’s elbows and pull the belt snug against the pelvis. Ensure that belt web-
bing is not twisted as this may compromise safety.
