About the handling of the battery and the storage battery in E U signatory 

 

This symbol is specified in EU Directive 2006/66/EC, Article 20 "Information for end-users" and Annex II.  
When discarding batteries and accumulators, the symbol above signifies that they must be sorted from normal 
waste and disposed of.  When element symbols are displayed below the above symbol, this signifies that the 
batteries or accumulators contain heavy metals in a concentration above the standards. 
The concentration standards are listed below. 
Hg : hydrargyrum (0.0005%), Cd : cadmium (0.002%), Pb : lead (0.004%) 
If these materials are not disposed of appropriately, there may be a serious impact on human health and the 
global environment. 
Note : This symbol is only valid in countries within the EU.
