Tangential fan

Version 10/10

Item-No. 57 01 84 (motor on the right-hand side)

Item-No. 57 01 92 (motor on the left-hand side)

Use in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions

The tangential fan can be used for cooling or ventilation purposes, e.g. for the cooling of cor-
responding electrical devices or the like. Due to the cross-flow fan’s special design, particular
space-saving designs are possible.

In connection with a heater attachment (order no. 5702

0

6) you can build a heater fan yourself.

Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating
instructions.

This product complies with the applicable National and European requirements. All names of

Safety Instructions

The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions. Liability for any and all consequential damage is
excluded!

We do not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by
improper handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The
warranty will be void in such cases.

• Only persons who have been trained for this purpose and who are familiar with all

safety regulations are entitled to work on the mains voltage.

Unskilled work on the mains voltage does not only endanger yourself but others as
well.

There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!

• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is not allowed

because of safety reasons. Never dismantle the product.

• The product is only intended for use in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product

must get damp or wet.

• The product must only be operated when it is installed in an appropriate casing.

The casing must comply with the corresponding relevant safety regulations (e.g.
protection against accidental contact).

You are responsible for the correct operation of the tangential fan!

• Keep combustible or easily inflammable objects or fluids away from the cross-flow

fan. There is a risk of fire and explosion.

Do not operate the product in environments with flammable gasses, dust or
vapours. Risk of explosion!

• Never block the rotor of the tangential fan; not only will this overload the device,

but it will also lead to damage of the tangential fan!

• The product is not a toy. Keep devices that operate on the mains voltage out of the

reach of children! Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.

Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.

• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous

playthings for children.

• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental

drops, even from a low height.

Connection/Installation

Important!

Observe the safety instructions!

• Connect the power line to the connectors on the motor of the cross-flow fan. Here, the

allocation of N and L is not important. Use suitable 6.3mm blade receptacles; use heat-proof
silicon cables.

Depending on the casing used, the correct connection of the protective earth conductor to the
tangential fan’s metal housing is required additionally.

• Fit the tangential fan in the casing intended for the installation, by using a suitable bracket.

• Lay the connection cables so that they are not located on, above or next to the air inlet

openings or air outlet openings.

Fasten the connection cables in the housing in an appropriate manner, e.g. with cable ties.

• Keep in mind that for the operation in connection with a heater attachment  (e.g. order no.

570206) the cold air must be blown through the tangential fan to the heater attachment. This
air is heated up during the flow through the heater attachment and then must be able to escape
at a suitable point (ideally, directly after the flow of the air through the heater attachment).

The heater attachment must not be mounted in the air intake opening of the
tangential fan.

This will draw hot air through the tangential fan, which will lead to overheating of the
fan and thus, damage it.

Therefore, always pay attention to the correct arrangement of heater attachment
and tangential fan and correct direction of the air flow when designing and building
a fan heater.

The heater attachment must always be mounted in the air outlet opening of the
tangential fan!

• The air outlet opening of the housing must be provided with a suitable heat-proof protection

against accidental contact (danger to life through an electric shock when getting in contact with
the heater attachment’s heating wires!).

• During later operation and use make sure the hot air flow is not directed at combustible or

easily inflammable objects.  Observe a sufficient distance.

Handling

• During operation the product gets hot (drive motor). Risk of burns! While the pro-

duct is in operation and connected to the mains voltage, there is a risk of a life-
threatening electric shock when touched!

• Only use in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet! There is

a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!

• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a

warm one. The condensation that forms might destroy your unit. This might cause
a lethal electric shock!

Allow the product to reach room temperature, before connecting it to the power
supply and putting it in to use. This may take several hours.

• Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an authorised repair

shop.

• Check the product for damage before each use!

If you detect any damage, DO NOT connect the product to the mains supply or
operate it!

A safe operation can no longer be assumed, if:

- the product shows visible signs of damage,

- the product does not function or does not function properly (e.g. a burning smell)

- the product was stored under unfavourable conditions

• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor

pinched.

• Avoid the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during trans-

portation:

- Damp or excess air humidity

- Extreme cold or heat

- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents

- Strong vibrations

Disposal

Dispose of an unserviceable product in line with the relevant statutory regulations.
