•  If necessary, fasten all cables using cable ties to prevent them from hanging into your computer’s CPU fan.
•  Reclose your computer’s case.
•  Connect your computer and monitor to the power supply, and turn on all devices.
•  If your computer does not start up normally, turn it off immediately, and check all settings and cable

connections.

Before reopening your computer, disconnect it from the power supply; see above!

Driver installation

•  After Windows® has started, it will automatically identify the PCI-Express card as new hardware.
•  Insert the included CD into the corresponding drive on your computer.

At the time of creating these operating instructions, the driver was stored as an installation

program in the “Driver Installation” directory.
Start Windows® file manager and launch the installation program located in the above-named

directory.
If might be necessary to restart Windows® in order for the USB 3.0 ports on the PCI-Express

card to function properly.
Windows® 8 does not require driver installation.

Connecting USB devices to the PCI-Express card

Important:
It is necessary to connect the power supply of the PCI-Express card to a suitable connector

on your PC mains adapter.
Otherwise the USB devices connected to the PCI-Express card will not be identified properly!

a) USB 2.0/1.1 devices

•  A USB 3.0 port also supports “old” USB 2.0/1.1 devices. Simply connect the USB device to one of the four

USB ports on the PCI-Express card.

•  Use USB 2.0/1.1 connection cables to connect USB 2.0/1.1 devices.
•  USB 2.0/1.1 devices will not work faster when operated from a USB 3.0 port. If the USB 2.0 controller on

the mainboard, however, works slowly, it might for example be possible for USB 2.0 hard disks connected

to a USB 3.0 port on the PCI-Express card to transfer data at a higher speed.

b) USB 3.0 devices

•  Connecting a USB 3.0 device to the PCI-Express card requires a USB 3.0 cable. A USB A plug may look

a great deal like a USB 2.0/1.1 plug, however it has additional connecting components. A USB B plug on

a USB 3.0 cable has a different form.

•  To use the USB 3.0 at its full speed, in addition to a USB 3.0 port on your computer, you also need a

USB 3.0 device and a fitting USB 3.0 cable.

•  USB 3.0 provides a theoretical transfer rate of 5 Gbit/s (equaling to approx. 600 MByte/s). However, the

actual speed reached during operation will depend on the devices transferring data (internal and external

hard drive), the type of data (many small files or few large files) and many other factors.

Disposal

Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory regulations.

You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
