Welcome to the Community family of users!
Thank you for purchasing this Community loudspeaker system. Please take a few minutes to
review both sides of this Quick Start Guide.
Connecting an amplifier to the speaker cabinet:
You may use either a Speakon-type connector or a ¼" phone jack for signal input to the
loudspeaker. A Speakon connector is capable of handling much more power than a 1/4" phone
jack. If you are going to use the speaker system at high power levels, we recommend a
Speakon connector for speaker cable connections.
A word about Community's exclusive protection circuitry and indicators:
The XLT PRO Series is equipped with special circuitry and indicators to help you get the most
performance from the system without damage. The PowerMeter™ indicators (green, yellow
and red LED's) provide visual indication for your benefit.
L E D
I N D I C A T I O N
GREEN
Will flash or steadily illuminate to indicate signal presence at the loudspeaker.
YELLOW
Will light to indicate the speaker is in the first stage of protection and is a warning
that you should decrease the power level.
RED
When the Red LED illuminates, it means the loudspeaker has gone into full
protection mode to prevent damage to the components. You will notice a
significant drop in the sound level coming from the speaker. If you turn down the
level, the protection circuit will automatically reset and will restore full operation to
the speaker system in a short period of time.
Use the right amplifier:
It is very important to use an amplifier that has enough power to properly drive your
loudspeaker. You may use any quality amplifier to power your new loudspeakers. To avoid
distortion and potential damage, the output power of your amplifier must be sufficient to drive
the loudspeaker system to the sound pressure level you desire without driving the amplifier into
“clipping". If your amplifier has "clip" or "protect" lights mounted on the front and you see them
illuminate during normal use, then you probably need a larger amplifier or may want to consider
band limiting the amplifier. To achieve this, you can employ a sub sonic / high pass filter.
To achieve the maximum sound pressure level of the speakers, we recommend the following
amplifier ratings:
Model Recommended
Power
XP500, 505, 509 and 530
800 to 1200 watts @ 4 ohms
XP502
800 to 1200 watts @ 8 ohms
XP525
1200 to 1800 watts @ 4 ohms
Caution
:
Mounting points are provided on the cabinet to allow permanent installation of the speaker system. Community
has the accessory STRAPKIT available to help facilitate proper and safe mounting of the loudspeaker system. If
you are unsure about safely mounting this speaker, we recommend you contact a Professional Engineer, with
expertise in mechanical and structural disciplines, for advice and recommended procedures.
