Installation precautions
Follow all precautions when installing a device.
General precautions

Install at least one power supply unit.

Plug the device into a nearby power source that adheres to the regulatory
requirements outlined in this manual.

Attach a terminal or PC to the device. This will enable you to configure the
device through the command line interface (CLI).

Assign a password for additional access security. No default password is
assigned to the CLI.

Before attaching equipment to the device, you must configure an interface IP
address to the subnet on which the device will be located. Initial IP address
configuration is performed using the CLI with a direct serial connection.

Connect network equipment to the system.

Test IP connectivity to other devices by pinging them and tracing routes.

Continue configuring the device using the CLI.

Secure access to the device.

CAUTION
Do not install the device in an environment where the operating ambient temperature might exceed 50°C (122°F).
CAUTION
Make sure the airflow around the front and sides of the device is not restricted.
CAUTION
Never leave tools inside the device.
