Appendix D: RTR_CFG.EXE

The

RTR_CFG.EXE

program can be used to change parameters on the

ROUTER-LL RTR-10 Router Core Module. It is required to perform
installation of a ROUTER-LL.

Usage

RTR_CFG.EXE

should be run from DOS (or a DOS shell) on a machine

that has a LonWorks network interface and a LonWorks DOS device
driver. The command line arguments for

RTR_CFG.EXE

 are:

RTR_CFG [-D

devname

]

The -D option is used to select a non-default device, where devname is

LON1

 through

LON9

PCCLON1

, or

PCCLON2

. The default device is

LON1

.

When the program is run, a banner with the version number will be dis-
played followed by the main menu:

Router-LL Configuration Utility Version 1.0

main menu:

c - configure near side of router

C - configure far side of router

        q - quit

Configuring Communications Parameters

The ‘

c

’ and ‘

C

’ options configure the communications parameters of the

Special Purpose mode transceiver on the IP side of a ROUTER-LL. This
operation should be performed after a ROUTER-LL is installed by a net-
work services tool. If

RTR_CFG.EXE

 is communicating to the ROUTER-

LL through the LonTalk side of the router, the far side should be config-
ured (‘C’). If

RTR_CFG.EXE

 is communicating to the ROUTER-LL

through the IP side of the router, the near side should be configured (‘c’).

After pressing the ‘c’ or ‘C’ key, the user will be prompted to press the ser-
vice pin on the ROUTER-LL or enter its Neuron ID. During configuration,

RTR_CFG.EXE

may ask the user to power cycle the ROUTER-LL. The

configuration process takes about 45 seconds.

If

RTR_CFG.EXE

detects that the transceiver type on the Neuron Chip it

is configuring is not already in Special Purpose mode, it will print a mes-
sage and ask the user whether they wish to continue. This indicates that
the communications parameters for the Neuron Chip were corrupted, or
the user is attempting to configure the wrong side of the RTR-10 Module.

If the configuration operation fails, the user should reinstall the ROUTER-
LL using a network services tool and repeat the configuration operation.
