Use
• Before connecting, make sure that the power switch is set to “0”. When you
are ready to start working, set the switch to the desired temperature. It takes
approx. a minute for the gun to reach the set temperature.
• The heat gun can be placed standing on any flat surface. Use the built-in stand
for extra stability. This leaves your hands free for other tasks. Avoid getting too
close to the nozzle.
• If working above the height of your head wearing safety goggles is essential.
• Work from top to bottom. Use suitable a scraper/scraping blade/scrubber. Strip
paint using soft, even strokes, by moving the gun back and forth. When the
paint gets hot enough, you can remove even thick layers with a single stroke.
• Ample heating causes the paint to come off in strips as wide as the scraper.
• The edge off the scraper must be cleaned often, to keep it sharp and free from
dirt. Strip the paint immediately while it is hot, or it will quickly harden again.
• On uneven surfaces the paint must first be heated until it is soft and then be
removed using a wire brush.
• Use a non-inflammable material to cover all nearby surfaces that are not to be
heated.
• Never aim the gun directly at a window or other glass surfaces.
Note:
the heat gun is well suited for removing oil or latex based paint. It can not
remove stains or primer or wood preserver.
Note:
Fumes from paint containing lead is dangerous to your health.
Always ensure good ventilation when working indoors.
Removing paint/varnish
Following these recommendations and a bit of practice, will make work
easier and easier with the heat gun. Practice on smaller surfaces before
starting on larger projects.
• Turn on the power and give the gun time to heat up to the operating
temperature. Keep the nozzle at a distance of about 8 - 10 cm from the paint
surface you are removing. After a short while, the paint will get soft and blisters
will begin to appear.
• Do not overheat, or the paint might catch fire, making it even more difficult
to remove it.
