7. Release the park brake and rotate the passenger side rear tire by hand. The driver side rear tire should rotate in
the opposite direction.
8. At the instrument panel, place differential lock handle in the LOCK position (Figure 17-27, Page 17-10) .
9. The spring (1) at the transaxle should stretch (gaps between the coils) and pull the lever (2) towards the front of
the vehicle
(Figure 17-28, Page 17-10) . The lever (2) should stay in the locked position.

10. Rotate the passenger side rear tire by hand. The differential should lock the rear axle shafts together and both
rear tires should turn together in the same direction.
11. At the instrument panel, place differential lock handle in the UNLOCK position and rotate the passenger side rear
tire by hand. The differential should unlock and the driver side rear tire should rotate in the opposite direction.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Place bed locking pin in the stowed position and lower the cargo bed (Figure 17-25, Page 17-9) .
14. Connect battery and spark plug wire(s). See Connecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles on page 1-4.
