KEY SWITCH
The key switch is mounted on the dash to the right of the steering column
(Figure 15, Page 26)
. It has three
positions, OFF, ON, and START, which are clearly labeled.
To start the vehicle, turn the key past the ON position to the START position and hold until the engine is run-
ning smoothly. Release the key and it will return to the ON position and the engine should idle.
FORWARD/REVERSE CONTROL
The Forward/Reverse handle is located on the seat support panel below and to the right of the driver’s right
knee
(Figure 16, Page 26)
. The handle has three distinct positions:
F
(forward),
N
(neutral), and
R
(reverse).
Rotate the handle towards the driver,
F
(forward), to operate the vehicle in the FORWARD direction, or
towards the passenger,
R
(reverse), to operate the vehicle in REVERSE. When the handle is in the straight
up, or
N
(neutral) position, the vehicle will idle.

BEFORE ASSIGNING A DRIVER TO THE VEHICLE, MAKE SURE THE DRIVER IS FAMILIAR
WITH ALL CONTROLS AND OPERATING PROCEDURES BEFORE ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO
BE DRIVEN.
•
BEFORE ALLOWING ANYONE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, BE SURE HE OR SHE IS FAMILIAR
WITH ALL CONTROLS AND OPERATING PROCEDURES.
•
DO NOT TAMPER WITH THE GASOLINE VEHICLE GOVERNOR. DOING SO WILL VOID THE
WARRANTY, AS WELL AS, DAMAGE THE ENGINE AND OTHER COMPONENTS AND COULD
RESULT IN PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH DUE TO UNSAFE SPEEDS.
•
DO NOT MODIFY OR CHANGE THE VEHICLE IN ANY WAY WHICH MIGHT AFFECT ITS STABIL-
ITY OR HANDLING, OR INCREASE MAXIMUM VEHICLE SPEED BEYOND FACTORY SPECIFI-
CATIONS. PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH COULD RESULT.
•
DO NOT SHIFT THE FORWARD/REVERSE HANDLE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. TO
AVOID INJURY TO INATTENTIVE PASSENGERS OR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, ALWAYS
BRING THE VEHICLE TO A FULL STOP BEFORE SHIFTING THE HANDLE. A BUZZER WILL
SOUND AS A WARNING WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE.
•
RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THEN DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL FIRMLY
UNTIL THE VEHICLE STOPS. TO AVOID UNINTENTIONALLY STARTING OR ROLLING THE
VEHICLE, SET THE PARK BRAKE, TURN THE KEY SWITCH TO
OFF
, AND REMOVE THE KEY
WHEN LEAVING THE VEHICLE.
•
THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED WHEN THE KEY SWITCH IS IN THE
OFF
POSITION ONLY.
•
THE ENGINE WILL STOP RUNNING IF THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED WHILE THE FOR-
WARD/REVERSE HANDLE IS IN THE
NEUTRAL
POSITION.
•
THE REVERSE BUZZER WILL SOUND AS A WARNING WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN
REVERSE
