Axle Bearing and Shaft
TRANSAXLE (TYPE G): ELECTRIC VEHICLES
CAUTION
• Do not scar or damage the inside surfaces of the tube when removing the oil seal and adapter ring. A
damaged tube might have to be replaced.
NOTE:
Do not discard the adapter ring. If the adapter ring is lost or damaged, the axle tube will have to be replaced.
6.2. Use a press to separate the axle oil seal (15) from the adapter ring (39)
. Retain
the adapter ring and discard the oil seal.
7.
Inspect the axle shaft assembly to be sure the bearing and collar have not slipped and are still seated against
the shoulder on the axle shaft.
8.
Inspect bearing (5)
. If the bearing in a Type G transaxle is worn or damaged, the
entire axle shaft assembly (1 or 2) must be replaced.
