Use
Charging by dynamo
• Fold out the crank and turn it at a steady rate. Do not turn the crank too slowly (poor charging) or
too fast (may damage the dynamo mechanism). About three turns a second is a suitable rate.
• After cranking the dynamo for 3 minutes you can use the unit for about 10–18 minutes
(at normal volume/temperature).
Charging with the provided USB lead
• Connect the USB lead supplied to the input of the device (9) and to the USB port of a computer.
• The battery is fully charged after 5 hours.
• The radio can be used for about 4 hours when the battery is fully charged
(at normal volume/temperature).
Listening to the radio
1. Fully extend the FM aerial (7). An AM aerial is built into the radio.
2. Choose FM or AM with the switch (6).
3. Select FM or AM with the selector (3).
4. Tune to the required station with the channel search knob (2).
Listeneing with headphones
• The radio has a 3.5 mm headphone jack (8). When the earphones are plugged in,
the loudspeaker is silenced.
• Protect your hearing. Listening with the volume set too high for a long time may result in
permanent damage to your hearing.
Care and maintenance
• If the radio is not in continuous use, charge the battery once a month by cranking
the dynamo handle for at least one minute. This extends the life of the battery.
• Use only a slightly damp cloth to clean the outside of the unit. Never use solvents or
corrosive chemicals.
• Do not place the unit on or close to other electrical equipment that may cause interference.
