Installation
Warning! Do not mount the detector in new or
renovated buildings as long as the building work
or painting/cleaning is still in progress. Dirt from a
building site, or gases from chemicals can damage
the detector. In that case wait with the mounting
until it is time for moving in.
Loosen the mounting plate by twisting it anticlock-
wise. Insert a battery and connect the battery termi-
nals. Then press in the test button, and hold it in a
couple of seconds until the detector signal sounds.
Next check that the red LED which is located under
the test button blinks every minute. If the alarm
sounds the functions are working, and the detec-
tor is now ready for mouting. Attach the mounting
plates using the supplied screws, and then securely
twist the detector on.
Interconnect function
Only applies for Model C1231. This model can be
interconnected. Pull cable (e.g. above lead SKF 2
x 0.75 mm
2
) between those detectors which are to
be connected. The detectors should be connected
in parallel. Follow the colour code so that e.g. black
lead connects to black, and white to white.
Testing and Maintenance
Make sure to protect your detector from water (hu-
midity) and dirt. Regular vacuum cleaning and dry-
ing lengthens the life and secures the functions of
your detector!
The detector is tested when you hold the combined
test – and the pause button pressed in a couple of
seconds. This tests the detector’s function, and an
alarm signal is given off.
-
Test the detector regularly,
preferably every week, with
the test button.
-
Always test the detector when
you come home after being
away a longer period of time.
-
Check that the red indicator light (LED) under
the test button blinks every minute.
-
Vacuum clean the detector with a soft brush.
-
Dry off the outside of the detector with a soft rag.
-
Never use detergent, water or chemicals when
cleaning!
Battery warning – Battery change – Lifetime
The included alkaline battery will
last for at least one year. Approxi-
mately one month before the battery
dies, the detector lets out a short
beep every minute. It is then time to
change the battery. Use an alkaline
battery of good quality, e.g. Duracell
MN1604 or MX1604, GP1604A or Energizer 522.
There are also lithium batteries with a lifetime up to
several years, e.g. Ultralife U9VL-J. Always try the
detector immediately after the battery change.
The detector has a built-in sensor with an approxi-
mate lifetime of at least 5 years, during normal use.
Make a note when you use your detector for the first
time, and even a note on the back of the detector
that is should be changed about 5 years later. After
approximately 5-6 years use the detector sends out
2 short peeps every 10th minute indicating that it is
time to change the detector.
Installation date:
Date for replacement:
When it is time to change the battery, or replace
the detector you can press the test button to delay
the alarm signal for 10 hours so that you won’t be
unnecessarily bothered by the signal (e.g. middle of
the night).
When using the detector in a humid environment e.g.
caravan, boat (which we do not recommend) etc. the
lifetime of your CO detector can be shortened and the
sensitivity can change. When mounting in caravans
and such, store the detector in a normally heated room
environment when the caravan is not being used.
When alarm sounds – Shutting off
the alarm sound (pause function)
The alarm warns through a siren which sends 4
repeated signals, while at the same time the red
control light under the test button blinks 4 times If
the detector alarms you should always assume the
alarm is correct and check out the reason for the
alarm as well as take the following precautions:
Immediately find fresh air. Open all doors and win-
dows to dissipate any possible CO.
Check that all people who were in the building are safe.
If possible – without exposing yourself to risk – seek
and close all suspected gas and liquid powered
equipment. Let open fires and embers go out.
Do not use the equipment again before having it
checked by a professional.
Do not return to the building if the detector contin-
ues to give off an alarm.
If symptoms of CO poisoning appear call for medi-
cal help and inform the healthcare personnel about
suspected CO poisoning.
Call an ambulance if necessary.
Check the CO detector with the test button if you
return to the building.
Consider also the possibility that CO can come from
outside of the building.
By pressing in the test button you can shut off the
alarm sound temporarily for 4 minutes, so called
pause function. The indicator light continues to
blink 4 times every 5th second. (The pause function
works also if you have a detector with connection
function). The alarm signal starts again if the CO
concentration becomes higher than 200 ppm. If CO
remains in the air after 4 minutes pause time, the
alarm signal cannot be shut off with the test button.
The test button does not work when the alarm is
activated, it then functions as a pause button.

Guarantee
Your CO detector has 2 years guarantee calculated
from the day of delivery. The guarantee covers
material- and manufacturing faults, and is limited
to exchange or repair. The guarantee applies only
if operating manual has been followed: Return the
defected detector to the store of purchase or to the
importer (see below) with the complaint and battery.
Please note among other things that the detector is
not to be used in humid environments!
