Carefully unscrew the adjuster to allow the spring to reassert, until it is loose enough
for the tool to be removed.

Select the spring holder that most closely
fits the spring to be compressed and
slide it on to the adjuster until it locks
into place, as in 1 below.

NOTE: The holder may be fitted to the adjuster
OR the threaded post, depending upon application...design
of cylinder head etc.

Select the threaded post that allows the tool to be fitted correctly with the threaded
post bearing up against the valve head, and the spring collet positioned over the
spring as shown in 1.
Turn the adjuster to compress the spring, then prise out the collets securing the valve
as in 2, ensuring the spring holder, spring and threaded post are directly in line.
