4. Maintenance
4.1. AT3000 functional check
AT3000 does not usually require any maintenance, except for general cleaning with a damp cloth. Do not use
solvents on plastic components.
To verify that the device is in good conditions it is possible to check the return loss of the three antennas X,Y, Z at
the output port with a suitable network analyzer or equivalent device, comparing the results with that registered
in the original certificate of manufacturer. For this operation place the antenna on its vertical support, in free
ambient at least 1.5 m apart from conductive or dielectric obstacles.
Any important difference would indicate a damage in one of the antennas, in the switch or in the axis selector. In
general this simple and fast functional check procedure significantly reduces the possibility of measuring
unreliability and it is recommended before of the periodic calibration or when a damage is suspected.
Please ask the manufacturer for assistance in the following cases:
unsatisfactory result of functional check or of metrological validation;
variations of calibration results on the last certificate not compatible with the previous certificate, which are
not justified by replacement of parts or up-dating of version;
unsteady antenna connector;
damaged connector on axis selection pigtail;
presence of dents indicating a heavy impact.
damaged radome.
4.2. Composite cable functional check
Visual check
: check both cables, especially in the area close to the antenna connector. In general, exposed parts of
the outer conductor braid are indicative of a damaged cable. Verify that there is no dirt inside the connectors.
Axis selection cable
: verify that internal pins of the connectors are not damaged. For a complete check verify with
a tester the six internal electrical connections (excluding central pin 7, which is not used). The outer braid of this
cable must be electrically in contact with connector body at both ends; of course it must be electrically isolated
from the six internal conductors.
