PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
The recommended replacements for the Cisco 36 Port Cisco Ethernet Switching Network Modules are the Cisco EtherSwitch Service Modules.
Customers who are using the 36-Port Cisco Ethernet Switching Network Modules are encouraged to migrate to either the NME-XD-48ES-2S-P,
NME-XD-24ES-1S-P, NME-X-23ES-1G-P, and NME-X-23ES-1G. The new Cisco EtherSwitch service modules help ensure maximum availability,
high performance, higher port density, ease of upgrade, and expandability and compatibility with the Cat 3750 EtherSwitch. The modules have their
own processors, switching engines, and Flash memory that run independent of the host router resources, helping to ensure maximum concurrent
switching and routing performance and enabling advanced switch features such as localized IP routing on the EtherSwitch service module.
Additionally, Cisco EtherSwitch service modules run their own software, independent of the router’s Cisco IOS Software image, allowing for easy
upgrades and ongoing software feature parity with Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series switches. For more information about the new EtherSwitch modules,
