This procedure describes the steps you perform to remove and replace a CTS 1100 codec and includes
the following topics:

Required Tools
Masking tape, or other tape to mark cables when you remove them, is required.
Removing and Replacing a Codec
To remove and replace a codec, complete the following steps:
Step 1
Remove the cabinet cover by performing the following steps:
a.
Gently pull the top of the cover out of the three slots at the top of the cabinet.
b.
Lift the cover so that it pulls out of the slot of the bottom of the cabinet; then remove the cover.
Step 2
Power off the system by turning the power switch on the PDU inside the cabinet to the “OFF” position.
The switch is located in the lower center of the cabinet.
Step 3
Remove the cables from the codec. Mark the cables we you replace them.

Step 4
Remove the codec from the cabinet by completing the following steps:
a.
Raise the spring-loaded posts on the cabinet, and turn the post counter-clockwise so that the post
stays raised.
These posts are directly above the codec and secure the codec to the cabinet. See
Chapter 3, “Assembling and Mounting a Cisco TelePresence System 1100”
for more information.
b.
Slide the codec from the right to the left until you slide the codec past the spring-loaded posts.
c.
Remove the new codec from its packaging.
Step 5
Install the codec into the cabinet by completing the following steps:
a.
Insert the codec into the right side of the cabinet.
b.
Slide the codec from the left to the right left until the top of the codec slides past the spring-loaded
posts inside the cabinet.
Note
In some cases, you might have to lift the posts and turn them clockwise prior to installation.
c.
Turn the posts clockwise to lower the posts and lock the codec into place.
Step 6
Connect the cables you disconnected from the codec, using the tape markings you placed on the cables
as a guide.
