8.6 Frame trigger and line trigger/encoder connection and setup
For detailed function of parameters, see also section 9.17.
8.6.1 Frame trigger and encoder settings
To specify frame trigger mode:
1. On the toobar click
Show settings
, and then click
Synchronization
.
2. In the
Triggered frame scan
list, click either
Use start condition only
or
Use start
and stop condition
.
3. Specify the remaining parameters on the
Synchronization
page as needed.
For more information about the parameters, see section 9.9.
8.6.1.1 Connecting the frame trigger to the camera
There are two different ways to transmit the encoder signals to the camera:
1. Connect the camera using Camera Link CC-bits
- If the frame trigger is connected to the frame grabber, ensure that the signal is
transferred to CC3 or CC4 bits of the Camera Link cable.
2. Directly connect the frame trigger to the camera:
- To connect the frame trigger signals directly to the camera you can use the
I/O connector (D-Sub15 Pin 1/9 or 2/10).
For a detailed pin assignment, see section 5.1.3
- Also see the input level definition in section 5.1.4
8.6.2 Line trigger and encoder settings
Settings for line trigger and encoder mode are edited within this view. For more information
about the parameters, see section 9.17.

8.6.2.1 Connecting the line trigger / encoder to the camera
There are two different ways to transmit the encoder signals to the camera:
1. Connect the camera using Camera Link CC bits
- If the line trigger / encoder is connected to the frame grabber, ensure that the
signal is transferred to CC1 and CC2 bits of the CameraLink cable.
2. Directly connect the encoder to the camera:
- To connect the line trigger / encoder signals directly to the camera you can
use the I/O connector (D-Sub15 Pin 1/9 and 2/10).
- For a detailed pin assignment, see section 5.1.3
- Also see the input level definition in section 5.1.4
8.6.3 Define the input channel in the camera
After connection of the signals, the camera must be set up to the correct input channel for the
encoder signals. Therefore use the I/O configuration page of CST (see section 8.10)
To show the I/O Configurator, click
Show settings for user-configurable IOs
on the
toolbar.
