CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

CLEANING YOUR KETTLE

1.   Unplug your kettle.

2.  Let it cool down and clean it with a damp sponge.

3.  Never immerse the kettle, its base, the cord, or the electric plug in water.

4.  Use only soft not abrasive sponges or cloths and non-abrasive dishwashing liquid.

CLEANING THE FILTER

1.   The removable mesh filter controls the clarity of the water that pours into your

cup and extracts any unwanted residue that may be part of the tea brewing process.

2.  Clean the filter regularly by running water through it. With very hard water, the filter

can clog very quickly (10 to 15 uses). It is important to clean it regularly. If it is wet, put

it under running water. If dry, gently brush off any debris. To remove any scale

deposits that remain, follow the process for de-scaling.

3.  To remove the filter, lift the kettle off its base and allow to cool. Never remove the filter

when the appliance is full of hot water. Gently slide the filter by the top tab and it will

slide up and out.

DE-SCALING (KETTLE)

De-scale regularly-preferably at least once a month or more frequently if your water is
very hard.

3 methods to de-scale your kettle:

1.  Using vinegar:

-Fill the kettle with 17 oz. of vinegar.

-Let sit for 1 hour without heating.

2.  Using citric acid:

  -Boil 17 oz. of water.

-Add 1 oz. of citric acid and leave to stand for 15 min.

3.  Using a commercial de-scaler specifically for electric kettles:

  -Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

-Empty your kettle and rinse 5 or 6 times to remove any residue.

*Never use a de-scaling method other than recommended.
