Important
- To protect the appliance and the cooling fans from electrostatic
discharge damage, make sure that you are properly grounded before you
touch any of the electronic components. Read the
Health and Safety
Information
in the
Check Point 21000 Appliances Getting Started Guide
before you start to prepare the appliance.
We recommend that you use a grounding wrist strap. The grounding plug on
the rear of the appliance provides a chassis grounding point.
You can hot swap the one or more of the five CPU cooling fan units for each tray. Each
cooling fan unit contains two fans and the appliance monitors each fan separately. If one
of the fans in the cooling unit has failed, you must replace the entire unit.
We recommend that you use a flat head screwdriver to help remove a cooling fan unit
from the appliance.
Caution
- Components inside the appliance can overheat if they are not
cooled even for a short period of time. If you replace a failed fan unit, and
do not completely remove power to the appliance, do not let the appliance
run without a fan unit for longer than necessary.
To replace a fan unit:
1. Find the fan grill at the rear of the appliance and the retaining screw that secures it.
2. Use a screwdriver to loosen the retaining screw.
3. Do these steps to remove the fan grill:
a) Use your fingernail to move the grill to the right.
b) Pull the grill away from the appliance.
4. Find the failed cooling fan unit.
