Introduction

Congratulations on the purchase of your new CHAUVET lighting effect. We are confident you will
enjoy many trouble free hours with this unit. To assist with the care and use of the product we
have prepared this short guide.

Setting-Up

This lighting effect has been designed to function on a mains power supply of either 120V~60Hz
or 230V~50Hz and has been fitted with a suitable power plug for use with your local voltage.
Check the label and the power plug for the correct voltage before switching on.

As this unit is a linkable head it can only be used in conjunction with a master head from any of
the CH-208 Rotating Moons, CH210 Tracer, CH-211 Starburst or CH-214 Tetra 4-head systems.

Before use for the first time you must install the lamp (see ‘Replacing Lamps’ for details). Once
this is done decide on your location and link to the master head (see ‘Linking’ and diagram –
fig.2).

Operation

The operation of this unit is determined by the settings on the master head. The user guide for
any of the CH-208 Rotating Moons, CH-210 Tracer or CH-211 Starburst 4-head systems explains
the available functions in detail.

Installation / Mounting

Although this unit can be used in an upright position. It is recommended that, for safety purposes,
your lighting effects be properly mounted using a suitable hanging clamp and safety cable.
CHAUVET offers a range of items, which are ideal for safe mounting.

Replacing Lamps

1.

Disconnect from main power supply before attempting to replace lamps or fuses.

2.

Ensure that the unit is sufficiently cool, before removing blown lamps.

3.

Never touch new lamps with your fingers; use a tissue or a cloth.

In order to replace the lamp, disconnect from main power supply first, and unscrew the lamp
replacement cover, which is highlighted on the diagram (fig.1). Only use the appropriately rated
lamp as use of any other lamp type may cause the unit to be non-operational.

Due to the nature of halogen lamps it is vitally important that you do not touch the new
replacement lamp with your fingers, as this will reduce lamp life considerably. Once again a
tissue or cloth can be

used for fitting the replacement lamp. Finally before switching on, check

that the lamp is housed correctly in the lamp holder and that the lamp replacement cover has
been screwed back into place.

If after replacement of the lamp, the unit is still not working then please contact your dealer or
CHAUVET for servicing.

Linking

With the cables provided you can link one master with fifteen linkable heads for synchronized
control from the master head, see diagram (fig.2). The socket is such that it will only allow you to
plug the cable in the correct way, once connection has been made a twistlock mechanism
secures the cable firmly in place. Any number of linkable heads may be linked in this way,
provided the master head is first in the chain.

Once  the  heads  have  been  linked  correctly,  as  shown,  then  it  is  necessary  to  select  the
appropriate  channel  for  each  head.  On  the  rear  of  each  ‘linkable’  unit  you  will  find  a  rotary
selector which has positions 1 to 4 clearly marked.

With this you can designate which head will synchronize with another i.e. all heads selected as ‘2’
will light together, all those selected as ‘3’ will light together, etc. This is particularly useful if you
have a multi-head system, for example, 8 heads linked together would mean you could have 2 of
each channel selected.

The beauty of the CHAUVET ‘multi-link’ operation is the compatibility with other models and
systems in the range. See diagram (fig.2) for a list of all the products which you can hook up
together in this way. A great way to improve your lightshow at little cost!

Cleaning

The most important part of your lighting effects to keep clean are the lenses as they allow the
light output to transmit. These should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. The body of the units
may also be cleaned in the same way. We recommend internal cleaning be carried out by a fully
qualified technician.

Maintenance & Servicing

Work on internal parts should be carried out by a qualified technician. Removal of any covers
other than the lamp replacement access is considered a breach of warranty and will not be
covered under any such agreement unless authorized first by the company.

Troubleshooting

• If unit is not functional – check main power supply is ‘on’ and check fuses.
• If unit does not light – check head selector switch is correctly set, if ok, then lamp or fuse may
require replacing.
If after trying this solution you still have a problem contact your dealer or CHAUVET.
