ADJ 4.4 Lubrication
Various mechanical components should be
cleaned and lubricated. These include compo-
nents in the cutting mechanism and registration.
If your machine is equipped with an elevator, the
elevator
’s drive chain should be oiled at least
once every six months.
WARNING
Disconnect and lockout power as described
in the Power Lockout Procedure on page viii.
Procedure
– Main Machine
1. Switch off power, remove the waste bin, and
open the back door.
2. Clean and oil the front and back surfaces of
each end of the face knife bar (Figure 4-10)
with a non-detergent, non-solvent, light-
weight lubricating oil such as 3-in-1® SAE
20 electric motor oil .
3. Squeeze four pumps of a #2 EP molyb-
denum grease (such as Challenge part num-
ber: SU-30-103) into each of the two bearing
housings underneath the table (Figure 4-10).
4. Close back door and replace waste bin.
5. Open side door and clean and grease lead
screw (Figure 4-11) using an #2 EP grease
(such as Challenge part number: SU-30-
100). Close side door.
Procedure
– Elevator (If equipped)
1. Slide the elevator away from the trimmer to
access the chain cover.
1. Remove the chain cover (Figure 4-12).
2. Inspect the chain and sprockets for wear.
Replace parts as necessary.
3. Re-tension the chain as necessary.
4. Oil the full length of the drive chain.
5. Wipe any excess oil from the base.
6. Reinstall the chain cover.
