RAP 2.44 Out-Feed Conveyor Motor
Output 24
The exit conveyor motor only activates when a
book exits the trimmer. The conveyor can be
programmed to stack up to 255 books before in-
crementing. The motor is located inside the exit
conveyor cabinet.
Possible Fault Indicators

The conveyor never switches on, runs
continuously, or runs only for an instant
when set to maximum distance
Initial Actions
Clear all books from the conveyor. Check that
the cable is securely connected to the Exit Con-
veyor. Check that the stack number is not set
extremely HI. Check for a loose or broken drive
belt. See ADJ 4.9 External Conveyors Belt
Check. Check that timer relay inside the con-
veyor case is connected, and the adjustment
control dial is turned clockwise.
If the conveyor only runs for short distances, re-
gardless of where dial is set, the potentiometer
is likely to be faulty and should be replaced (PL
5.57 Exit Conv. Elec. EE-2979-3).
Procedure (conveyor runs without stopping)
1. Remove the potentiometor and test re-
sistance. Does the resistance vary between
0 and 250 kΩ at its extremes?

Replace potentiometer assembly (PL 5.57
Exit Conv. Elec. EE-2979-3).
2. Replace the time delay relay (PL 5.57 Exit
Conv. Elec. EE-2979-3).
Procedure (conveyor never runs)
1. Switch off the machine.
2. Check fuse, F11 (Figure 2-2). Is resistance
is less than 2 Ohms?
Y N
Replace fuse F11.
3. Switch on the machine and measure voltage
between wire 22 and wire 123 at the IR re-
lay, Figure 2-71. There should be 0 VAC
before pressing the green start button and
120 VAC after pressing the green start but-
ton. Are the voltages okay?
Y N
Disconnect main power and replace the IR
relay (PL 5.15 Power Panel EE-3306-1
(1/2)).
4. With the pump motor running, short wire 25
to 37 at SSR4, Figure 2-71. Does the motor
switch on?
Y N
Disconnect main power and replace the mo-
tor (PL 5.58 Conveyor Drive Asm. 56340-1).
5. Send a test book through the machine.
Does output LED 24 switch on after the
book exits the trimmer?
Y N
Disconnect main power and replace the
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Replace-
ment).
6. Disconnect power. Remove the end cover
from the out-feed conveyor and remove the
time delay relay from the socket. Jump wire
23 to 22 at the relay socket. Switch on
power to trimmer and press the green start
button. Does the Exit conveyor motor run?
Y N
Disconnect power and replace the motor (PL
5.58 Conveyor Drive Asm. 56340-1).
7. Disconnect main power and replace the re-
lay, SSR4 (PL 5.15 Power Panel EE-3306-1
(1/2)).
