RAP 2.39 Internal Conveyor Motor
Output 22
The motor that drives the two internal conveyors
is located beneath the left-hand conveyor near
the front of the machine (Figure 2-62).
Possible Fault Indicators

The internal conveyor motor does not
run after gripper presets

The internal conveyor motor runs contin-
uously while a book is in process
Initial Actions
Check for loose or broken drive belts.
If motor does not run and fuse F11 blows fre-
quently, check brake wiring and/or replace the
brake.
If motor coasts to a stop (rather than stop
quickly), check brake wiring and/or replace the
brake.
Procedure (never runs)
1. Check the F11 fuse, Figure 2-2. Is re-
sistance less than 2 Ohms?
Y N
Replace the F11 fuse.
2. Check for proper wiring at the terminal block
near the motor. See Figure 2-63.
3. Switch on the machine and measure voltage
between wires 22 (motor) and 37 (SSR1),
and between 22 and 144 at the IR relay.
There should be 0 VAC both locations.
Then press the green start button and wait
for the gripper to preset. Now there should
be 120 VAC at both locations. Are the volt-
ages okay?

Go to RAP 2.14 Interlock Relay (PL 5.15
Power Panel EE-3306-1 (1/2)).
4. After the gripper has preset and the pump
motor is running, short wire 24 to 37 at
SSR1. Does the motor switch on?
Y N
Disconnect main power and replace the de-
fective motor (PL 5.9 Main Assembly 59000
(9/12)).
5. While the hydraulic pump is on, view output
LED 22. Is output LED 22 switched on?
Y N
Disconnect main power and replace the
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Replace-
ment).
6. Disconnect main power and replace the bad
relay, SSR1, Figure 2-64 (PL 5.15 Power
Panel EE-3306-1 (1/2)).
Procedure (always runs)
1. Switch power off and back on. Press the A
key to enter sensor data mode. Block and
unblock the Book-in-Position sensor. Does
input LED 4 change state?
Y N
Go to RAP 2.46 Book in Position Sensor.
2. Exit sensor data mode and press the green
start button. Feed a book. Does output
LED 22 switch off when the book is on the
gripper?
Y N
Disconnect main power and replace the
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Replace-
ment).
3. Disconnect main power and replace the bad
relay, SSR1, Figure 2-64 (PL 5.15 Power
Panel EE-3306-1 (1/2)).
