CMT 130 Book Trimmer
RAP 2.28 Elevator Pusher Cylinder
Output 20
The elevator pusher cylinder feeds the book
from the top shelf of the elevator into the trim-
mer. The cylinder is mounted to the underside
of the top frame plate in the elevator.
Possible Fault Indicators
Book does not leave elevator and trav-
els over the top
Pusher remains extended, never ex-
tends, or extends erratically
Initial Actions
Perform GP 6.15 Speed-Control Air Valves.
Check for air leaks and disconnected or pinched
hoses in the trimmer and between the trimmer
and elevator.
Check for loose or broken wire 65 at the power
panel.
Check that the wire connector for valve number
4 is connected properly.
Procedure
1. Open the elevator door and fully open the
flow control valve on the left end of the
pusher air cylinder (Figure 2-41).
2. Pull the elevator away from the machine to
access the flow control on the right side of
the elevator. Fully open the flow control
valve on the right side.
3. Manually activate valve number 4 by press-
ing the actuator button on the valve (Figure
2-42). Does the pusher extend?
Y N
Disconnect main power and air to replace
valve number 4 (PL 5.21 Pneu. Manifold
Asm. 59012-1).
4. Electrically activate valve 4 by shorting wire
65 to wire 74. Does the pusher extend?
Y N
Disconnect main power and air to replace
valve number 4 (PL 5.21 Pneu. Manifold
Asm. 59012-1).
5. Disconnect main power and replace the
main PWB (REP 4.22 Main PWB Replace-
ment).
6. Readjust the flow control valves to cushion
the stop at the end of the stroke in each di-
rection. Be careful not to over-restrict the
flow because it will cause erratic travel at the
end of the stroke.
