After Doffing
Replace the cylinder with a fully charged one.
Complete after-use care and maintenance procedures.
Ensure that the complete BA is clean and dry.
Ensure that the facemask head harness straps and harness adjustment
straps are fully extended.
Cleaning of Facemask
After a BA set has been used at an incident or training, the following maintenance and
cleaning is to be performed.
Ensure post fire/incident decontamination is conducted appropriately to
remove any obvious signs of contamination (e.g. ash). This can be achieved
by hosing down the operator with a light spray on the incident ground, while
they are still on air but in the COLD zone.
If the face mask and the outside of the demand valve are contaminated with
combustible products it must be cleaned and washed using a mild cleaning
detergent in tepid drinkable quality water, then rinsed thoroughly before
disinfecting in BioGuard
®
.
Do not use any cleaning products that can or might attack any part of the BA.
Do not use alcohol, acetone, trichloroethylene, organic solvents such as
nitrous dilution, spirits, thinners, gasoline or petrol.
Face masks must be cleaned individually to prevent cross-contamination.
Only totally clean BA components can be effectively disinfected.
