MSA G1 Classic Breathing Apparatus
Don the BA Set
Don the BA before entering the hazardous area (i.e. while you are still in
the COLD zone).
If the BA does not function properly as described in this section, it must
be removed from service and returned to the State PPE&C Management
Centre, with an attached fault report.
As per the Chief Officers SOP 11.12 Head and Facial Hair – Maintenance
of, BA operators need to be clean shaven, with no long sideburns as
facial hair will prevent a correct seal from being achieved.
The facemask seal must be checked before each use.
The nose cup must be installed correctly in the facemask.
In order to guarantee a proper fit for those wearing glasses, the
MSA G1 C spectacle kit must be worn since ordinary glasses cannot be
worn under the facemask. If a spectacle kit is required, contact the State
PPE&C Management Centre to arrange.
Only remove the facemask in a safe, non-hazardous, non-toxic
atmosphere (the COLD zone).
Operators must wear correct protective clothing and precautions must be
taken so that the device is not exposed to atmospheres that may be
harmful to it.
Failure to follow these warnings can result in serious personal injury or
death.
