3 Special Function Programming
–
Cable Hold Mode
The cable hold mode function allows the operator to selectively program the gripper
b
lades to “hold” the cable during each strip step to help stabilize and prevent “whipping”
of the cable end while the orbiting blade is severing the cable. In this mode, the gripper
blades offer support and stability to the cable, in addition to the wire guide, when the
orbiting blade is performing its cutting operation. This can be an aid when working with
thin-layered, extra flexible, and other difficult-to strip cables.
Cable hold mode is individually programmed for each step of the strip sequence,
independent of the other strips in the sequence. This feature can be alternately turned
ON or OFF by pressing the
key while this data field is highlighted during editing of
any given strip step. When this feature is turned OFF for a given step, the data field for
the step displays a series of dashes. See Figure 4-9 below.
