5.   Operation

5.1   General Safety

Failure to follow these safety instructions and warnings

could result in a fire or an explosion, which could cause

property damage, personal injury, or death.

Read and follow all instructions and warnings in 

this Owner’s Guide, on the cylinder, and on the 

supply hose safety tags before connecting the cylinder to 

the appliance.

Do not allow anyone to conduct activities 

around this appliance during or following its 

use until the appliance and the cooking liquid has cooled. 

The appliance is hot during operation and remains hot for 

a long period of time following its use.

 

5.1.1  Prior to Cooking

Do NOT leave the appliance unattended while the 

burner is lit or while heating oil, grease, water, or 

when cooking food. 

Carefully monitor the appliance, especially when the 

cooking oil, grease, or water is above 100° F (38° C).

This appliance gets dangerously hot while in 

 

use. Use well-insulated pot holders or oven mitts 

for protection from hot surfaces or splatter from cooking 

liquids. Safety glasses or goggles are also recommended 

to protect from oil splatter.

6.1.2 While Cooking

Never leave hot cooking liquids unattended. 

Carefully remove food from the appliance to pre

-

vent burns from hot cooking liquids.

Do not place an empty cooking container on a lit 

burner. Empty aluminum cooking containers will 

melt if placed over lit burner.

Do NOT move the appliance when in use.

Avoid bumping of or impact with the appliance 

to prevent contact with hot surfaces, spillage or 

splashing of hot cooking liquids.

5.1.3  After Cooking

Heated cooking liquids and equipment will remain 

at temperatures capable of causing severe burns 

and injuries long after cooking has ended.

Do not leave the appliance unattended until  

the oil, grease, or water temperature falls  

 

below 100° F (38° C).
The valve on the LP cylinder must be closed when 

not in use.

5.2   Connecting the LP Cylinder

5.2.1  Safety Instructions

 

• Do not connect this appliance to any other fuel supply  

    source, such as natural gas.
  • If the regulator is not working correctly, do not attempt  

    to adjust or repair it.
  • Never use an LP cylinder if it shows signs of dents,    

    gouges, bulges, fire damage, corrosion, leakage,  

 

    excessive rust, or other forms of visual external dam  

    age. This type of damage may be hazardous and  

 

    should be checked by an LP service technician.
  • Route the gas supply hose away from any hot surface  

    on the appliance stand.

5.2.2  Connecting Instructions

 

1.  Make sure both shutoff valves are CLOSED prior 

to connecting the regulator and hose assembly.

2. Make sure the LP cylinder is upright and the valve is 

closed by turning the knob clockwise.
