FITTING THE SLING

3.1

FITTING IN A CHAIR

Before you start, check that the sling is in a safe and clean condition and is the correct size and
model for the person to be transferred.

3.1.5
Attach sling to hoist as normal.  As a guide, we suggest starting with a short shoulder/long leg
position, however it is recommended the care plan is followed.

3.1.2

Slide  each  leg  piece
underneath the thigh to
the  back  of  the  knee
making  sure  each  leg  is
equal.  The  slide  sheet
material  on  the  back
makes this easier.

3.1.3

Holding  the  leg  strap  with  the  black
modesty  loop  attached,  thread  the
other  leg  strap  through  the  modesty
loop.  Then attach each leg loop to the
spreader bar.

Do not cross the straps.

   3.1.4

Hammocking the leg supports is ideal for below knee amputees.

Cross the leg suspension straps in front of the user before attaching

to the hoist to prevent the risk of falling forwards from the sling.

Hands should be inside the sling

away from the straps

The user should be level in the

sling to ensure safety and

comfort.

3.1.1

Apply  sling  down  the
back of the client to the
coccyx level.  Ensure the
sling  label  is  facing
outwards.
