Care & Cleaning
IMPORTANT
: Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning!
1. Be sure the coffee maker is off and cooled.
2. Open the cover, remove the permanent filter and filter basket (lift straight up)
and discard the grounds or soft pods.
3. The filter basket, permanent filter, thermal travel mug and mug lid are all top
rack dishwasher-safe; or they may be hand-washed in warm, soapy water.
4. Clean the coffee maker exterior with a soft damp cloth.
IMPORTANT
: Do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads. Never immerse
the coffee maker in water.
Decalcifying
Mineral deposits left by hard water can clog your coffee maker and elongate the
brewing time. Cleaning is recommended every 2-4 months depending on water
hardness. Excessive steaming or a prolonged brewing cycle is a sign that
descaling is needed. The coffee maker can be descaled using Capresso Cleaning
Solution or vinegar. Always mix the descaling solution with cold water, never use
hot or warm water.
1. Remove permanent filter from removable filter basket.
2. If using vinegar, fill the travel mug about 1/3 full with white vinegar and then fill
the mug with cool water and pour into the water reservoir. If using Capresso
Cleaning Solution, mix 0.5 oz (half a packet) of descaler with 16 oz of water
and pour into water reservoir.
3. Place the travel mug on the mug rest without travel mug lid attached to mug.
4. Press the BREW button and let the cleaning solution brew through until the
unit shuts off automatically. Discard the solution in the travel mug.
5. Repeat the process using a new solution of 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water or the
remainder of the Capresso Cleaning Solution packet mixed with 16 oz of cool
water; do not reuse the first solution.
6. Use the mug to fill the reservoir with fresh, cold water and brew the plain
water through to flush out any remaining solution. Repeat the plain water
cycle to remove all vinegar or descaling solution.
7. Wash and dry the filter basket, lid and mug as instructed in

Troubleshooting
What to do if...
.
..Only a small amount of water added to the water reservoir actually brews.
• The coffee maker needs to be descaled. Please refer to the “Decalcifying”
section and ensure you descale every 2-4 months.
...Ground coffee is flowing over the Permanent Filter.
• Coffee is ground too finely. Use a coarser ground.
• Too much ground coffee was placed in filter. Use less ground coffee next time.
...The coffee maker starts brewing automatically.
• The coffee maker was turned off or unplugged before the brew cycle could reset.
• Allow the unit to reset (indicator light turns off) before turning off or unplugging.
...Coffee spills out of the travel mug during brewing.
• The lid to the travel mug is not open to allow coffee into the mug. Open lid
during brewing.
• The removable filter basket is in the wrong position. See Fig 2 & 3 for proper
placement of filter basket.
