Acceptable curl range when the curl is perpendicular to the feed direction (paper coated on one
side)
Paper coated on one side tends to curl down.
Heavy Paper or Card Stock (106 to 163 g/m
2
) with a down curl of less than 5 mm or an up curl less than
10 mm is recommended. For Heavy Paper or Card Stock (164 to 256 g/m
2
), an up curl between 5 and 10
mm is recommended. If the amount of curl exceeds the range shown in the graph below, paper jams may
occur. However, an up curl between 5 and 10 mm is recommended for Heavy Paper or Card Stock (164
to 256 g/m
2
). Bend the Heavy Paper or Card Stock (164 to 256 g/m
2
) beforehand so that it has such a
curl.
To curl up the sheets, hold the stack of paper with the coated side face up, as shown in the diagram, and
bend it back and forth several times.
