Canon Digital Trinity

The EOS Rebel XSi’s CMOS sensor captures images
with exceptional clarity and tonal range and offers
the most pixels in its class. This APS-C size sensor
(22.2 x 14.8mm) is complemented by Canon’s
DIGIC III Image Processor, which enhances image
quality and speeds up all the camera’s operations.
The sensor and processor work in concert with
Canon’s superlative EF and EF-S lenses, forming the
ultimate Digital Trinity.

14-bit Tonal Conversion

The EOS Rebel XSi features 14-bit analog to digital
signal conversion, generating data with incredibly
smooth tones. With this rich 14-bit gradation the
EOS Rebel XSi offers RAW images of the highest
quality to complement 8-bit JPEGs.

Noise Reduction

The EOS Rebel XSi’s sensor features narrow-gap
microlenses and noise reduction circuits to improve
performance at high ISOs, and optimized photo
diode configurations for improved performance at
all ISOs. You’ll notice the results immediately.

Auto Lighting Optimization

The EOS Rebel XSi’s
Auto Optimization
feature analyzes the
photographic scene and
compensates automati-
cally, brightening dark
faces, boosting contrast
and brightening high-
lights in flat light, and
adjusting exposure
when flash output is
insufficient.

3.5 fps Continuous Shooting

The EOS Rebel XSi operates with such effortless
speed that operation is nothing short of intuitive.
With instant startup times, speedy AF and impercep-
tible shutter lag, the EOS Rebel XSi is one of the fast-
est cameras available today, shooting up to 3.5 frames
per second, in bursts of 45 JPEGs or 6 RAW files.

Spot Metering

The EOS Rebel XSi features a spot meter, which
analyzes 4% of the composition, plus Center-
weighted average metering and partial metering for
accurate exposure no matter the situation.

EOS Rebel XSi:

Infinite Possibilities

Canon is thrilled to introduce the new

EOS Rebel XSi, a Digital SLR that brings a new

level of performance and technology to all

photographers. With the EOS Rebel XSi,

every aspect of the photographic

experience is enhanced. Its new 12.2-

megapixel CMOS sensor, 3.0-inch LCD

with Live View Function and an Image

Stabilized lens work together to create

stunning images, easily. With unprece-

dented sophistication and supreme usability,

the EOS Rebel XSi inspires you and promises

go-anywhere, shoot anything photography

for everyone.

Huge 3.0" LCD Monitor

The EOS Rebel XSi has a giant, bright 3.0-inch TFT
LCD monitor with 230,000 pixels and a viewing
angle of 170˚. It’s perfect for Live View Function
composition or viewing camera settings like AF,
ISO, Metering, AF Point selection and flash options.

Live View Function

The EOS Rebel XSi is the first EOS Rebel series to
feature Canon’s Live View Function technology.
With Live View Function, you never have to bring
the camera to your eye: it’s easy to compose and
shoot images right on the 3.0-inch LCD monitor.

Higher Magnification Viewfinder

The EOS Rebel XSi also has an improved, high
magnification viewfinder with a sensor to disable
the LCD monitor when the camera is brought to the
eye. All relevant shooting information, including
ISO, are displayed right in the viewfinder.

SD & SDHC Memory Cards

The EOS Rebel XSi uses popular SD and
SDHC memory cards.  Tiny, inexpensive and
available in increasingly large capacities,
these cards are a perfect complement to
the EOS Rebel XSi’s compact design.

Optical Image Stabilizer Lenses

Canon’s Optical Image Stabilizer tech-
nology makes handheld photography
possible in more low-light situations

by counteracting camera shake for crisp, clear
images. With Optical Image Stabilizer in the lens,
Canon can equip each lens with the stabilizer it
needs for effective shake correction. Other systems
are limited by how far they can move an image sensor,
and as a result their stabilization is less effective as
telephoto lengths get longer. Also, stabilized images
can be seen right in the viewfinder–impossible
with some other stabilizer systems.
