Figure: FPI installed with Short Circuit Sensor & Earth fault Sensor
Installation of the Sensor
Installation of the Indication Unit
While installing the sensors, ensure that no current is flowing through the
cables. They are mounted around the high voltage cable and fixed with
clamp and screws.
To install this sensor, the fixing screws have to be loosened from the
bracket. After that, the open Steel bracket has to be mounted around the
cable core. Once Steel bracket has been mounted, screw the sensor case
to the bracket frame again. Please note Fixing Screws have to be
tightened strongly enough, so that the bracket surface is tight-fitting with
the steel bolt of the sensor case.
Next, put the sensor in a fixed position on the cable, by locking the screw
on the back of the steel bracket in case of short circuit sensor (or) by
clamping it with the help of a cable tie for earth sensor.
The FPI indicator unit is for panel mounting. The unit is fitted on to the
panel with the help of fixing clip provided.
Now connect the wires coming out of sensor to the FPI indication unit as
follows:
Connect Red & Black wires of L1 Phase, L2 Phase, L3 Phase & Earth
sensor respectively to input terminals - 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8 of
indication unit.
•
Ensure that the current sensor is installed at earth potential on the
HV cable system
•
Ensure that the current
sensor is installed on the
screened part of the cable
system
•
Sensor should be installed
on shielded cable (*)
•
Loose screw can create open circuit
in sensor and may result blast of the sensor.
•
Sensor secondary need to be terminated to FPI terminal.
Open terminal may can result blast of the sensor
