BASIC PROCEDURES
Adjusting the Passenger
Footrest
For the passenger's comfort,
its
footrest height can be adjusted.
Flip the footrest upward.
Turn the retaining screw counterclock-
wise with a wrench (stored in the tool
kit) to loosen the screw.
NOTE:
Do not completely unscrew
the retaining screw to adjust the
footrest. Unscrew only until you can
disengage the footrest from the slots.
Raise or lower the footrest to your con-
venience.

When finished, tighten retaining screw
clockwise.
Flip the footrest downward.
Starting and Stopping the
Engine
Starting the Engine
WARNING
Exhaust gas contains poisonous
carbon monoxide that can rapidly
accumulate in an enclosed or
poorly ventilated area. If inhaled,
it can cause serious injury or
death.
Only run the engine in an unen-
closed, well ventilated area. See
the
GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
sec-
tion.
NOTE:
The RT model can be started in
any gear with the brake pedal pressed.
The transmission automatically shifts
to neutral when the engine has been
started.
1. Push down and hold the brake
pedal.
2. Turn the key to ON.
NOTICE
Do
not
apply
throttle
while electrical system is initializ-
ing.
3. Refer to the Safety Card as needed
to prepare yourself, your passen-
ger and the vehicle, then press the
MODE button to allow engine start-
ing.
4. Set the engine stop switch to the
RUN/ON position.
5. Press and hold the engine start but-
ton until the engine starts. Do not
hold the start button for more than
15 seconds. If it does not start, re-
lease the button and wait 30 sec-
onds to let the starter cool down
before trying again.
NOTICE
Do
not

throttle
while starting the engine.
6. Check the display for problems and
to ensure that the oil light turns off.
