CTARM IR Series

Residential Digital Agile Modulators
With Infrared Capability

The CTIRE-38 is a 3 input, 8 output video distribution unit with an
integrated IR engine.  One input is designed for a CATV or local
antenna signal.  The other two inputs are designed for inputs from
modulators.  The unit can be powered either from one of the
modulators or from a separate, external power supply.  The unit has
a convenient IR output port that can accommodate a single or dual
IR emitter.  An internal amplifier provides unity gain to compensate
for the internal eight way split.

The CTIRE-38 is designed to provide a clean, professional
residential installation.  By eliminating the need for separate splitters,
combiners and amplifiers the CTIRE-38 will save time during the
initial installation and also avoid the need for costly service calls.

The CTIR-1 and CTIR-2 are single and dual infrared emitters.  Each
unit has a 5’ cord with a stereo mini plug.  The CTIR series emitters
are both 5 and 12 volt compatible. The IR emitters are placed over
the IR sensor windows on the video device (VCR, DVD, Satellite
Receiver) that needs to be controlled from a remote location.  They
must be used in conjunction with an IR target that inserts the IR
remote control commands onto the coaxial cable distribution at the
remote viewing location.

In order to extract the IR signal from the distribution the IR emitter is
plugged into an IR port on any CTARM IR series modulator or the IR
port on the CTIRE-38 video distribution unit.

Tech Tip:

Make sure that all of the distribution devices used in the

distribution are IR compatible.  This includes all splitters, amplifiers
and whole house distribution systems.

The CTIRT is an infrared target that is inserted in the coaxial cable
line between the wall plate and the television at the remote viewing
location.  It is used to insert infrared signals from a remote control
onto the coaxial cable distribution.  The infrared commands are then
extracted from the coaxial cable distribution at the centralized
distribution origination.  The target is remotely powered by the
Cabletronix CTARM IR series modulators or the CTIRE-38 video
distribution unit.  Installation is simple with one coaxial cable input
and one coaxial cable output.  The unit is housed in a low profile
case that is hardly noticed at the viewing location.  The CTIRT-LED
is also available.  This unit has an LED that lights when the target
receives a signal from the remote control.
