Step 2 : Add the diodes. Be sure to match the end of the diode with the stripe
to the layout on the PCB. The 1N4148 diodes are highlighted in blue, and
will have a single black stripe. The 1N4001 diodes are highlighted in red and
will have a silver stripe. The striped end should go in the square solder pad.
Your Ge diodes may have a single stripe, two stripes, or a dot. The easiest
way to make sure your orientation is correct is to place the same side into the
square hole of all the Ge diodes. So if you have a single stripe, put that into
the square hole of all the Ge spots, if you have two stripes, pick a stripe and
put that one into the square hole for all the Ge diodes. In this configuration,
the Ge diodes are used for clipping. As long as they’re oriented as outlined
above, they will work.
