The best operating condition for float charge
battery is always in fully charged state. Under
this condition, battery will obtain its longest
lifespan. When operating in float charge
condition, make sure each monobloc is
charged with a constant voltage of
2.20÷2.30Vpc. If the float charge voltage
exceeds this level, it will reduce the battery
capacity and operational service life. When
the ambient temperature is in the range 20 to
30ºC, the voltage can be adjusted with
gradient rate -3mV/ºC. We recommend the use
of constant-voltage chargers featuring
automatic voltage adjustment in accordance
with temperature.
(2) Cyclic
operation
Charging parameters for cyclic operation are
listed below:
>
Charging voltage: 2.4Vpc (25°C)
>
Initial limited charging value: I = 0.05C
10
~
0.3C
10
>
Gradient: -5mV/°C
Whether charge process is over can be judged
according to any of the following two
situations:
Generally, the charge process lasts 18 to 24
hours. However the charging time may by
shortened when the previous discharge is not
deep. For example: the charging time can be
shortened to 10 hour after 20% discharge.
During the final stage of constant charge, the
charging current remains constant for three
hours.
In discharge process, make sure the terminal
voltage is higher than the terminating voltage
(protection point), and the battery should be
charged as soon as the discharge process is
over.

There are 2 battery charge modes: float
charge and equalize charge. In charge
process, the charged capacity must be 1. 07

Float charge
>
Constant voltage: 2.20÷2.30Vpc (25°C),
gradient: -3mV/°C.

(2)
Equalize charge
>
Constant voltage: 2.40÷2.45Vpc (25°C),
gradient: -5mV/°C.

Equalize charge voltage is slightly
higher than float charge voltage, which can
shorten the charging time.
Equalize charge may be adopted in case of
any one of the following situations:
>
Discharge more than 20% of rated
capacity
>
Storage period longer than three months
>
Continous float charge for three to six
months
>
Voltage imbalance between cells is big in
float charge
(3)
Recharge after storage
The battery is fully charged at factory
delivery. However, when the battery is stored
for a period of time, capacity loss may occur.
In this case, battery should be re-charged
before installation, with equalize charge mode
recommended. After re-charging, the battery
should be installed and put into use as soon
as possible.

(1)
When the battery is operating, the
following data should be measured and
recorded monthly:
>
Float voltage of each cell and monobloc
>
Float current
>
Total battery voltage
>
Ambient temperature
>
Date of measuring
(2)
Check the connectors yearly for
looseness, corrosion and dirt. The loose
connector should be tightened, and the dirty
or corrosive connectors should be cleaned
immediately.
(3)
Check the battery cases for leakage
and distortion, if there is any acid leakage
around the posts or safety valve, or the
temperature is unusual, find out and solve the
problem, or replace the battery.
(4)
Never install battery inside sealed
containers.
(5)
Battery should be charged as soon as
the discharge process is over
