Cleaning, Disinfection, Storage and Service
CHANGING THE BATTERIES
The drive system batteries are located in the metal enclosure underneath the foot end of the bed.
1. Remove 4 screws on top of the battery box and set battery box lid aside.
2. Remove the 4 bolts connecting cables to the battery posts using a 7/16” / 11 mm wrench.
Take care to avoid dropping the hardware into the box. Remove the battery hold-down bar.
3. Lift the batteries from the box. Avoid damage to the cables or the circuit breaker.
4. Place new batteries into box.
5. Install the battery hold-down bar. Reconnect the battery cables. Refer to diagram on
lid if needed.
6. Install the lid and 4 screws. (New batteries should be charged for 12-16 hours to
reach full charge)
Refer to the diagnostic chart provided in this manual for basic problem solutions. Major service of this
equipment should be referred to qualified personnel.
Refer to circuit layout diagram and part identification diagram provided below. The manufacturer of this
equipment will provide assistance to the user’s appropriately qualified technical personnel to repair those
parts of the equipment which are designated by the manufacturer as repairable. Use only replacement
components which are approved and designated as acceptable by the manufacturer.
USE PERMANENTLY SEALED AGM-TYPE DEEP CYCLE BATTERIES ONLY.
BATTERIES MUST BE MARKED WITH DOT AIR TRANSPORTATION SAFETY
MARKING AND/OR STATEMENT.

FUSES
There are no replaceable fuses in the drive system. There is a resettable circuit breaker on one side of
the battery box.
DISPOSAL
The drive batteries and components should be recycled per local, state or national regulations.
INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
This bed is designed to have a minimum amount of maintenance through its lifetime.
The recommended frequency of inspection for the drive system is once per month or before each new
patient, whichever comes first.
In the event of mechanical damage or any issue which may compromise product performance or
patient safety, discontinue use and contact qualified service personnel or distributor immediately.
Battery Information and Chargers
All connect, disconnect and reconnect motions
are a push-in, pull-out connection.
The batteries are (2) 12v sealed lead acid batteries
that require no maintenance.
When replaced, batteries typically require 12 to 16
hours to charge, depending on conditions of use or
storage.
These batteries and charger are part of a CE
approved system that meets the UL 60601-1. It
is not a life sustaining or life supporting system.
