USING YOUR APPLIANCE

FOR YOUR SAFETY

PORTABLE GWB 20L

Hot combustion products exit the appliance via the 6 horizontal slots positioned at the sides

and rear. Do not leave or place anything close to the appliance when in use. Not only would

this create a potential fire hazard, it could also prevent the natural flow of air through the ap

-

pliance, which is essential for good combustion.

BEFORE LIGHTING THE APPLIANCE

• The appliance is intended for professional use and only by qualified people.

Make sure the room is well ventilated and an openable window is available.

Wipe all external surfaces of your appliance with a damp cloth.

• Depress the control knob and turn anti-clockwise to the large flame symbol.

Continue to depress the control knob and at the same time push in the piezo ignition button.

A spark will be generated and the burner will light. Several attempts may be necessary after

initial installation.

After 5 seconds release the control knob. The required setting can now be selected between

the high and low settings.

If the appliance fails to remain alight, wait 3 minutes before attempting to re-light.

HOW TO USE YOUR APPLIANCE

• Before first use, fill the appliance to the ‘MAX’ line with a weak detergent solution, boil, drain

and thoroughly rinse with clean water.  Repeat this step so the urn is cleaned twice.

IMPORTANT

: Always put water in the appliance before switching on. If the appliance is

over-

filled there is a risk that boiling water will be ejected from around the lid.

• Remove the lid and fill the appliance with the desired amount of water. Do not fill above the

‘MAX’ capacity mark.

Replace the lid.

• A full capacity 20 litre appliance filled to the ‘MAX’ line will take approximately 45-50 minutes

to boil from cold on the high setting.

Do not leave the appliance unattended whilst in use.

Do not allow the appliance to boil dry.

The appliance should NOT be carried whilst it contains water, particularly hot or boiling water.

The appliance is not suitable for heating liquids other than water, or for heating water contain-

ing solids. If the water is being heated for tea making, make the tea in another container.

TO AVOID BEING SCALDED, KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM ANY STEAM FROM THE LID

WHEN THE APPLIANCE IS OPERATING OR HAS JUST BEEN SWITCHED OFF.

If you smell gas or in the event of a leak or suspected leak, do NOT light any appliance

or touch any electrical switch.  Call the Gas Emergency Helpline at 0800 111999.
