ENGINE ROTATION FOR SERVICE
GENERAL
The following process allows you to rotate engine down,
pivoting on rear isolator mount, in order to service components
in the top end.
NOTE
The engine does not need to be removed from chassis in order
to perform top end repairs.
DISASSEMBLY
NOTES
•
Before vehicle is placed on the lift it is necessary to remove
the chin fairing. See
.
•
Vehicle should be placed onto the lift with front tire placed
in the wheel vise in order to successfully perform this
procedure.
1.
Disconnect fuel pump electrical connector and run vehicle
until it is out of fuel. See
.
NOTES
•
This step is always performed in order to purge fuel lines.
•
The connection for fuel pump is just above the pump loc-
ated at the rear of the fuel tank on the left side of the
vehicle.
To prevent accidental vehicle start-up, which could cause
death or serious injury, disconnect negative (-) battery
cable before proceeding. (00048a)
2.
Remove seat and disconnect battery cables from battery:
negative cable (black) first.

Remove intake cover. See

Remove air filter base plate. See
NOTE
When removing the left air scoop, the alternator and voltage
regulator harnesses and connections are secured to the bottom
of the air scoop with three cable straps. When removing the
right air scoop/shroud it will be necessary to remove the front
oxygen sensor connector from the scoop/shroud.

Remove left and right air scoops. See

Disconnect the front oxygen sensor.
NOTE
The velocity stack has a clamp ring securing it to the throttle
body.

Remove throttle body velocity stack.
8.
Cover throttle body to prevent objects from falling into the
intake.

. Disconnect fuel line (8).
10. Disconnect the throttle position sensor [88] (9).
11. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors [84 & 85] (6).
12. Disconnect the intake air control (IAC).
13. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor (5).
