Introduction
The minispec LF-series is a benchtop Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) analyzer for
detection of hydrogen (
1
H), fluorine (
19
F), and other abundant NMR-active nuclei. Its common
application is in polymer, chemical and agrifood industry quality control and quality assurance
(QC/QA), where it is routinely used for fast, reproducible and non-destructive analysis. The
minispec LF-series is also used for a diverse range of applications in research and
development (R&D) laboratories in industry, universities, and medical research facilities.
This manual provides instructions on the initial installation of the instrument by Bruker Service
or personnel authorized by Bruker, including:
• Siting Considerations.
• Unpacking the System.
• Assembling the Cart.
• Assembling the Analyzer Unit.
• Analyzer Unit Connections.
• Electronic Control and the Magnet Unit Connections.
• Electronic Control, Magnet and Gradient Unit Connections.
• Connecting the PC to the minispec.
• Powering Up the System.
• Software Installation.
Instructions on proper operation of the minispec Analyzer and an introduction to the use of
the minispec hardware and software are provided.
Users who want to familiarize themselves with the minispec capabilities will benefit from the
software introduction in the section minispec Software GUI.
To provide a better understanding of the principles involved, an introduction to the basics of
NMR is provided in section
. A minimum set of NMR parameters
is described in
.
The minispec LF-series Analyzers operate with the minispec Plus LF software, which is
delivered with the system. This is a modern software package and there are separate
manuals available on the minispec software USB stick that explain the operation of the
software in all details:
• minispec Plus Administration
• minispec Plus Classic
• minispec Plus Chemometrics
The minispec.exe software is the data acquisition software, running in the background of
minispec Plus LF. However minispec.exe is mainly used for diagnostic purposes / service on
the LF-series systems.
This manual enables safe and efficient handling of the device.
This manual is an integral part of the device, and must be kept in close proximity to the
device where it is permanently accessible to personnel. In addition, instructions concerning
labor protection laws, operator regulations tools and supplies must be available and adhered
to.
Before starting any work, personnel must read the manual thoroughly and understand
its contents.
Compliance with all specified safety and operating instructions, as well as local
work safety regulations, are vital to ensure safe operation.
