Document Scanner Unit and Scanner Cover Support

The document scanner unit should be removed together with the ADF & document cover ASSY
(for models with ADF) or the document cover ASSY (for models without ADF). The removal
procedure of the ASSY from the document scanner unit is given in

. The

disassembly of the ADF & document cover ASSY (for models with ADF) is detailed in

(1) Disconnect the CIS flat cable from the main PCB. Press the lock arm on the upper cover to

the right and take the flat core up and out of the upper cover. Remove the flat core from the
CIS flat cable.

Note

: After disconnecting the flat cable, check that the cable is not damaged at its end or

short-circuited. When connecting the flat cable, do not insert it at an angle. After insertion,
check again that it is not at an angle.

(2) Release the CIS flat cable from the cable guides.

(3) Release the grounding wire

(4) Disconnect the following harnesses from the main PCB.
