iSCSI Boot
Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet adapters support iSCSI boot to enable network boot of operating
systems to diskless systems. The iSCSI boot allows a Windows or Linux operating system boot from an iSCSI
target machine located remotely over a standard IP network.
For both Windows and Linux operating systems, iSCSI boot can be configured to boot with the general
parameters shown in
.
Supported Operating Systems for iSCSI Boot
The Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet adapters support iSCSI boot on the following operating systems:
• Windows Server operating system
• Enterprise Linux distribution
iSCSI Boot Setup
This section applies to BIOS-mode iSCSI boot. Refer to the system documentation for UEFI iSCSI boot setup.
iSCSI boot is not supported in BIOS mode when local storage when local storage (especially RAID) is present
due to EBDA memory constraints.
