ACT-2 Installation and Operation Manual

INSTALLATION

Installation

Please examine your ACT-2 carefully for any damage that may have been sustained
during shipping.  If any is noted, please notify the shipper immediately and retain
the packaging for inspection by the shipper.  The package contains the ACT-2, 7.5
or 9 VDC  wall power transformer and this manual.

Installation of the ACT-2 in

high RF environments

should be performed with care.

Shielded cable is suggested for all I/O connections.  All shields and the station
ground should be connected to the “GND” terminal.  It is recommended that all
cables connected to the
ACT-2 is looped through ferrite cores to suppress RF.  Surge protection with RF fil-
tering such as the Tripp-Lite “ISOBAR 4 or 6” is also suggested for the wall trans-
former.

Terminal connections/pin-out:

Pin 1 = - LT, negative left audio input (BNC shield).
Pin 2 = + LT, positive left audio input (BNC center conductor).
Pin 3 = - RT, negative right audio input.
Pin 4 = + RT, positive right audio input.
Pin 5 = LT, left DC output (referenced to GND).
Pin 6 = RT, right DC output (referenced to GND).
Pin 7 = GND, Ground
Pin 8 = Unregulated

(PLUS)

7.5 to 9 volts

DC only. (wire with the white stripe).

NOTE:  If the source equipment feeding the ACT-2 is unbalanced, install a
jumper between the - LT or - RT terminal and GND.

Setup

Feed audio of –26dBu or greater into either of both audio inputs.  Adjust the LT or
RT Level controls for the desired DC output.  The corresponding LED will illumi-
nate at levels greater than –10dBu.
