STARTING AND STOPPING

WARNING

Do not use pressurized starting fluids.

Vapors are flammable.

CAUTION: OIL GARD

(if equipped) is intended to

prevent starting an engine that is low on oil. See page 7.
Always check oil level before starting engine. Under
certain conditions, OIL GARD

 may not shut down a

running engine. Engine damage may occur if oil level is
not properly maintained and will void warranty coverage.

If engine is equipped with OIL GARD

, and if engine runs

low on oil and cannot be started or has stopped and cannot
be restarted, add oil. Fill to point of overflowing at oil fill cap
or to FULL mark on dipstick (if equipped). Do not over-fill.

REWIND (MANUAL) STARTER

TO START ENGINE

Check oil level (see p. 7).

Turn fuel shut-off valve (if equipped) 1/4 turn
to OPEN.

Push choke lever to CHOKE position.

[4]

Move throttle 
(if equipped) to FAST.
Operate engine with
throttle in FAST.

Push rocker switch

Grasp rope handle. Pull slowly until
resistance is felt, then pull rapidly to start
engine and avoid kickback.

Slowly adjust toward RUN
position. Wait until engine
runs smoothly before
each choke adjustment.
