The opening button of the watch, the closing is done by
pushing the cover to the closed position up to the notch
(« click »).

Starting and winding of the watch

Starting and winding of the watch
To start the watch, first fully wind the strike mechanism
by turning the crown in the pendant anti-clockwise un-
til a resistance is felt, after about 20 turns (DO NOT
FORCE).
Then wind the movement by turning the crown clockwise
until a resistance is felt, after about 20 turns as well (do
not force or turn the crown anti-clockwise).
When winding the strike, always finish with a clockwise
turn of the crown to free the mechanism.
Fully wound, the watch will run for about 50 hours. The
winding of the movement is necessary before the end of its
autonomy but we recommend doing so every day at a set
time to favour the chronometry of the watch.
The strike will function for about 6 hours in great-strike
and 10 hours in small strike, nevertheless we recommend
leaving it in silent position when the strike is not required.
For a permanent use of the strike, we recommend winding
it regularly, for example every 4 hours.

Setting the time

Setting the time
Important: before any time setting operation, make sure
that the strike mechanism is fully wound by turning the
crown according to « starting and winding of the watch
» and wait the end of an eventual strike. Do not do any
time setting attempts when the strike mechanism is wor-
king.
Pull the time setting button into position 2 and turn the
crown to bring the hands to the desired position. If you
have to do an anti-clockwise time setting, move the hands
back 30 minutes further than the desired time, then come
to the correct time by moving the hands clockwise to al-
low the strike-mechanism pieces to take their respective
positions.
If a resistance is felt during time setting, do not force,
make sure of the full wound of the strike-mechanism by
pushing the time setting button back in and by proceeding
as mentioned under « starting and winding of the watch
», then resume setting the time.
Push the time setting button back into position 1

Great-strike – Small-strike – Silence

Great-strike – Small-strike – Silence
It is possible to choose the following options: Great-Strike «
GS », Small-Strike (Petite Sonnerie in French) « PS » and
Silence « S » by operating the strike selector positioned on
the case at 2 o’clock.
The selector has 3 positions indicated by their correspon-
ding engravings:
• Upper position: Great-Strike « GS », the watch rings the
hour every hour and every quarter hour, by low sounds for
the number of hours and by a high-pitched and low double
sound for every quarter.
• Middle position: Small-Strike « PS », the watch rings the
hour every full hour and the quarters at each quarter not
corresponding to a full hour (no repetition of the hour at
15, 30 and 45 minutes past the hour).
• Lower position: Silence, the watch does not ring any
passage; nevertheless the minute-repeater function is still
available.

Minute-repeater

Minute-repeater
Pull the slide of the minute-repeater down as far as possible;
the strike gives the time in the minute-repeater fashion: by
a first low sound the hours, on two tons the quarters and
finally the minutes with high-pitched sounds.
If the striking is slow or stops, wind the strike-mechanism
as indicated in «starting and winding of the watch».

Note

Note
The minute-repeater overrides the strike if it is activated
while the strike is functioning.
If the winding of the strike-mechanism is omitted, this one
can get out of sequence and so damage the watch. It is the-
refore important to assure the winding of the strike-mecha-
nism and to avoid using it permanently.
If the time setting button is in position 2, no strike is pos-
sible.
To open the back of the watch, lift the cover opposite the
hinge with your fingernail. To close the back, press the co-
ver down until it clicks shut.
