The device is powered by 36V dc, derived from the mains via an internal switch
mode power supply or internal 33 V dc battery. There is also the option to
connect a Breas External Battery.
The electronic control is divided into two sections. The Display Command
board, mounted behind the touchscreen display and the Power Control board,
mounted in the base of the rear case.
There are five microprocessors in the Clearway 2. The main and valve micro-
controllers and the alarm micro communicate with the display microprocessor
to control and monitor all of the device functions. This interdependent two-
way communication means that none of the micros can fail without one of the
others reporting the failure and activating a visual and audible alarm.
User inputs are processed by the display microprocessor and communicated
to the control micro-controller. The control micro has its own on-board
memory. If the main micro were to fail, the device would continue to function
with its last saved settings.
Signals from the control micro are conditioned by the control electronics in
order to drive the blower and control the valve.
All of the internal parameters are monitored by the main micro and out of
spec. operation is reported on the screen as a machine fault.
